About Giusy de Ceglia

Giusy de Ceglia was born in Molfetta (Italy) in 1973.
She started taking photos with a $20 compact camera when she was 11 and became a pro at the age of 18.

Giusy has worked for top model agencies and magazines in Los Angeles, Milan and Düsseldorf.
Her photos have been equally praised by the public and peers throughout the years for their fresh, unique and soul digging perspective.

Currently, Giusy lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
She contributes to several fashion magazines, websites and blogs from all over the world - among which VOGUE ITALIA Online (Vogue.it).
Giusy shoots spreads for famous magazines, takes runway and backstage photos at every fashion show that matters and can be regularly spotted reporting from major international fashion events.

Giusy has discovered and launched many talents during her career.
A couple of significant ones:
She has launched Sara Longoria (contestant of America's Next Top Model cycle 16) in Europe, particularly in Amsterdam and Milan.
Sara has been described as a "One in a Million Face" by Tyra Banks herself.
She has shot eclusive spreads with Giusy and worked with her on the internationally acclaimed "Androgyny" project.
In 1994 Giusy shot the very first portfolio of the German model Roland Nienhaus, who has ever since walked on runways and appeared as testimonial in worldwide advertising campaigns for Armani, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and several other famous Italian fashion designers.
Giusy keeps scouting new talents and launching them internationally with success.

Over the past few years, Giusy has also been working on a large variety of projects, taking her artistic vision to a broader dimension.

In April 2008 she travelled to the USA with film maker Carmen Nelstein, to shoot a documentary about Dutch Black Gospel choir director Edith Casteleyn
This breakthrough movie portrays Edith's work and her extraordinary US tour, performing in African American churches with her predominantly white Friendship Gospel Choir. Giusy contributed to this documentary as a photographer, camera assistant and sound recorder.

In 2009 Giusy has contributed to the Culinary section of the StadsSpelen project, sponsored and organized by the City of Amsterdam.
Her photos can be viewed at the official Stadsspelen website and have been published in the culinary book StadsSpelen Kookboek, that was successfully introduced to the press and public in Amsterdam in September '09.
She has also shot all the photos for a culinary book called the "Proef Nieuwreimerswaal" cook book - which was successfully published in June 2010.

Giusy firmly believes her best photo is yet to be taken and keeps lifting her visionary world to higher levels, striving to capture fashion through "snapshots of the soul", as she likes defining her own work.
